2009 New Teacher's Orientation in Miyun

YiBo had its first annual Teacher's Orientation in the Beijing Suburb of Miyun, during late August, 2009. Over 60 new Foreign Teachers joined YiBo Staff, Kindergarten Headmasters and Staff, the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, Damon Anderson from the Regional English Language Office of the United States Embassy, and journalists from the local news media for a wild week of games, hiking, swimming, cultural immersion, and ESL training. The group spent the week at the Impression Hotel. Teachers received TEFL Training paid for by YiBo Education . All teachers passed the intensive 5 day course and received their new TEFL, a valuable certification for teaching English anywhere in the world. Teachers also received additional training specially designed for YiBo Partner School classrooms. During the Orientation teachers got to enjoy great activities mentioned above, such as hiking and team building games, along with a splendid introduction to Chinese food, specially cooked in Miyun.

Many thanks to the YiBo and Impression's Hotel Staff for putting on such a great event. Outside of our TEFL training course, we enjoyed some fun activities including learning how to make dumplings, hiking in the nearby village, practicing Chinese, and socializing with new friends!
