Getting started is easy
I came to China because I was ready to experience something completely different. Beijing seemed like a great spot to hop to because it is changing every day. I came here because I knew very little about China, and I wanted to learn more about the culture everyday life. I would like to thank YiBo for helping me adjust to my new life and taking care of me during the transition period. My experience in China has been very positive!
Beijing is an amazing city that has so much to offer to foreigners. Every day is a new adventure for me! Teaching English is fun and dynamic! Overall, it's not too stressful, and there is plenty of free time throughout the day. The Chinese teachers are very friendly and fun to work with as well.
I would like to say that YiBo has been a company for which it is a pleasure to work for, because they pay me on time and have very helpful staff that are always there to help and help the teachers with whatever issues they need help with.
I joined YiBo because it seemed to be the total package. The Chinese assistants have been amazing and I honestly don't know what I would do without them. It's nice to have local support when something goes wrong and you don't know how to fix it.
I want to say Thank You for making my first experience in China a relatively easy one. It's difficult to live in a country where you don't speak the language, so I appreciate all the efforts the company has made to assist me.
If you are reading this you have already made the decision to come to China. So the only thing left is what are you waiting for? It will thrill you. It will exhaust you. China can be your friend or your opponent it is all in how you decide to look at it. Take it all with a grain of salt and it will be a really rewarding experience.... Thank you for your continued support here in China and introducing me to so many new friends. Also thank you for putting me at my school, I love the kids there!
I first chose YiBo because I was interested in teaching young kids and they had a clear and easy-to find kindergarten teacher job posting. My priority as far as choosing a company was making sure that I found a credible company to work for in China. After reviewing YiBo's website, having consistent email correspondence, and having a Chinese friend meet with an YiBo representative I chose YiBo because I felt that it was a credible and honest company.
Thanks YiBo for all your help and for making my China experience so memorable.
When I decided to come to China, I knew that I wanted to do three things: to learn more about this important country, to learn Mandarin, and to be able to further my career. Through YiBo I was able to learn a lot about China and I had many opportunities to travel around. With to the Mandarin lessons YiBo provides I was able to make great progress in my language studies. Finally, thanks to the professional development and TEFL certificate training programs here I was able to find an incredible job recently in Hong Kong. I’ve really enjoyed my time here in China, thanks in large part to YiBo!
I decided to come to China without any knowledge of what life was like over here and really no expectations about what it would be like to teach English to Chinese kids. YiBo went out of their way to find me the perfect school and make sure that I enjoyed my time here in Beijing. Being provided with a Chinese language assistant was the one thing that really helped me deal with the culture shock during the first few weeks, and it helped put my mind at rest when I encountered language barriers. I always felt comfortable asking for help with sticky situations and they provided me with an incredible support system. YiBo was very professional and a great company to work for. I would recommend them to any potential teacher in a heartbeat. My first year in China would not have been such a fun experience without them.
After my one-year contract ended with YiBo, I traveled extensively for four months throughout Southeast Asia by myself - it was amazing to say the least. I then returned to New York for less than a year but I felt compelled to come back to Beijing and I now run my own English teacher recruiting service. My experience working in Beijing for YiBo Education truly changed my life and I cannot thank them enough for their hard work and dedication.
After graduating from Louisiana State University I worked at a few different jobs that weren’t a great fit for me. The market wasn’t exactly ideal for a guy with only a bachelor’s degree in economics. I wanted out of the service industry and I didn’t want to be stuck behind a desk either. I knew of a few people who had taught English abroad and after seeing their photos and posts on Facebook I decided it was time for a change of scenery. I also wanted to try something different. I chose Beijing because it was exotic and it’s the capitol of the number one growing country in the world.
YiBo made the move to China a breeze. They supplied me with the visa I needed, a Chinese assistant that would help me with any problems that might arise, an excellent private kindergarten to teach in and a western style apartment near my school. When I arrived in Beijing I began orientation with 66 other English instructors from a handful of different countries. Immediately I formed many friendships, some of which I still enjoy today. Teaching and living in China was exactly the life experience I hoped it would be and I often regret that I didn’t stay a second year.
I’m back in Louisiana now and I am working in oil and gas as a lease broker, or “landman”. The people skills that I developed while working in China in education have lent themselves tremendously to my current line of work. Whereas I used to explain English concepts to students now I communicate legal language to property owners. Instead of conferencing with parents or other staff now I conference with project managers and lessor’s legal representation. In Beijing I would submit weekly reports that illustrated the material my class was covering. Today I turn in weekly reports that demonstrate my progress in negotiating leases.
When I was job hunting I went on three different interviews. On all three interviews the person giving the interview led with, “So, you did a year China. That must have been an awesome experience.” Being able to include that on my resume has certainly helped me stand out in a positive fashion. I believe it lets people know that you are a certain type of person and I believe it helped me land the job I have today.
YiBoAfter graduating college, I decided I needed to get out of my hometown/college area and really see something different. I needed a year to see Asia and take a shot at learning Mandarin. After arriving, everything was so much fun and thrilling. I made very significant progress on learning Mandarin and learned so much about the Chinese system and business culture. China is really such a different place than our western countries. Even though there are many differences in government and business culture, you can tell from the civility and culture that this place has a 5,000 year history, and that there is a deep sense of stability and a strong drive for upward mobility there. I never felt in danger there, and actually Beijing is one of the safest places in the world. My time was spent well there and I had a lot of fun. During my year in China, I applied to lots of different law schools and ended up getting into one of my top 3 choices.
Since coming back to the States, my time at YiBo has helped me out, because there are some law school programs that look for people who specifically have international work experience. I would recommend most people in the US gain this kind of experience because of how much you can learn by going to Beijing and working with a company like YiBo. Thank you YiBo for all of your help while I was there!
